the isometric map isn't real, it's faked so don't get too excited about it runs in Java which is not the most optimized, big macros may bog program down
open license so a lot of people are creating forks and offshoots of it that offer better features, google drive connectivity, etc all community scripts, addons, tiles/tokens, frameworks and rulesets available for free. standalone program, so runs snappier than roll20
dynamic lighting/auto-reveal-fog/line of sight for free incredibly customizable with relatively easy macro language I went through this exact same crap a few weeks ago! Let me offer my findings: We're looking for community members familiar with other games to become "vanguards" for them, and help us get the games online. Create a macro framework that uses those values to roll dice.Īs I mentioned, we're primarily focused on Pathfinder right now, because that's what we've been playing for so long.Create a "mapping" of keys to values on SyncRPG, so that it knows "Strength" is in "B3" (for example).Design a character sheet with Google Drive that has all the properties a token would need in individual cells.Verify the game rules have a license that's workable with being shared on SyncRPG (OGL or other permissive/community use license). There are a few steps to get a new game supported on SyncRPG: How involved would it be to set it up for another game? I'm mostly looking for a platform for indie games, which is daunting as every attractive tool seems to be built for d20 games.
I am going to continue researching them on my own, but do any of you have opinions?ĮDIT: I will try to keep this table up to date with comments for future searching reference. I have only used the free version of Roll20 from this group, but I am concerned that on occasion I will not have internet access. Relatively complicated, but many things can be imported if you buy source materialĪsset/Character transfer between campaignsĮncounter builder helps game run smoothlyīuilt in hangout functionality, but can't be used offlineįree version available, subscription for cool stuff Relatively complicated, but strong user base may already have framework Keep in mind some of these items in the table are subjective it's just a summary of opinions and info I've found either here in the comments or on other sites.
I would like to get some opinions on the tools before I sink any money into them.
I am getting ready to start a series of campaigns/one-shots which will be played offline, but on a virtual tabletop, and using a variety of systems (D&D 5e, Pathfinder, and FFG's SWRPG for example). I know this subject comes up occasionally, but from searching /r/rpg it appears it hasn't been discussed for almost a year. The above image is licensed under GPL 2.0.
